For readers building a manga library or discovering Akira Toriyama’s iconic adventure for the first time, the Dragon Ball Complete Books Box Set: Volumes 1–16 with Premium brings the opening 16 volumes of the original Dragon Ball manga together in one collectible package. Published by VIZ Media, this paperback box set carries ISBN 9781974708710 and combines the complete sixteen-volume collection with exclusive extras for readers and longtime fans.
The story follows young Son Goku, a remarkably strong boy with a monkey tail, as he encounters Bulma, an inventive young scientist searching for the seven magical Dragon Balls. These mysterious orbs are scattered across the world, and gathering them offers the chance to summon a dragon capable of granting a wish. Their journey leads into a world of unusual characters, unexpected challenges, martial arts, humor, and fantastical discoveries. As Goku meets new companions and faces increasingly demanding opponents, the series balances lighthearted comedy with action and the excitement of exploration.
What makes this Dragon Ball complete manga box set appealing is the opportunity to follow the original story across sixteen volumes rather than purchasing each book separately. Akira Toriyama’s expressive artwork, energetic fight scenes, imaginative creatures, and memorable character interactions help establish the distinctive style that has made the series recognizable to generations of manga readers. The collection is particularly suitable for readers who want to experience the foundations of the Dragon Ball universe before moving on to its later adventures.
The package also includes an exclusive double-sided poster and a collector’s booklet featuring Dragon Ball trivia, guides, and an interview with the series’ creator. These additions provide something beyond the manga volumes themselves, making the set attractive to collectors who appreciate printed extras alongside the story. Keeping the books together in their original box also offers a convenient way to organize the volumes on a bookshelf or display them as part of a manga collection.
This set can suit several types of readers: longtime fans revisiting Goku’s earliest adventures, newcomers looking for a substantial entry point into classic shonen manga, and collectors seeking a coordinated edition of the original series. Its combination of adventure, martial arts, science-fiction elements, fantasy, and comedy also makes it a distinctive gift option for manga enthusiasts who enjoy character-driven stories and imaginative worlds.
The complete Dragon Ball collection in this edition specifically covers volumes 1 through 16 of the original manga; it should not be confused with the separate Dragon Ball Z manga box set. For buyers who want these sixteen volumes together with the included poster and collector’s booklet, this VIZ Media release offers a clearly defined collection in one package. Before ordering, check the ISBN, volume range, and included extras to ensure you are selecting the intended edition for your reading or collecting needs.
