The One Piece Manga Box Set, Volume 1-23 brings together the beginning of Eiichiro Oda’s pirate adventure in one collectible paperback set. Featuring the East Blue and Baroque Works story arcs, this collection follows Monkey D. Luffy’s journey from an ambitious young pirate to a captain assembling a crew for the search for the legendary One Piece treasure. Published by VIZ Media, this English-language box set is identified by ISBN 9781421560748 and is suited to readers who want to experience the early story in its original manga format.
The adventure begins with Luffy’s dream of becoming King of the Pirates and the unusual abilities he gains after eating the Gum-Gum Fruit. His inability to swim becomes a memorable complication for someone whose ambitions depend on the sea. As he travels across the East Blue, Luffy encounters future crewmates, forms lasting friendships, and faces opponents whose ambitions and loyalties test his determination. These early volumes establish the personalities, humor, emotional stakes, and adventurous spirit that define the series.
Across volumes 1 through 23, the story expands into the Baroque Works saga, bringing the Straw Hat crew into a conflict involving secret identities, powerful adversaries, and the kingdom of Alabasta. The change from early crew-building adventures to a larger, interconnected conflict gives readers a fuller picture of the world Oda creates. Character backstories, rivalries, unexpected alliances, and escalating challenges connect the individual volumes into a continuous reading experience rather than a collection of unrelated episodes.
This One Piece collection box (9781421560748) contains all 23 paperback manga volumes included in the first box set, along with bonus collector materials: a Romance Dawn mini-comic and a full-color, two-sided poster. Keeping the volumes together makes it easier to follow the storyline in sequence and maintain a coordinated collection on a bookshelf. The boxed format also offers a convenient way to acquire the opening portion of the series without purchasing each volume separately.
Written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda, One Piece blends action, comedy, fantasy, mystery, and character-driven storytelling. Its appeal extends beyond pirate battles through themes of friendship, personal freedom, loyalty, ambition, and perseverance. Manga newcomers can begin with Luffy’s earliest adventures, while established fans may value this set for revisiting the East Blue and Baroque Works arcs in a matching collection. It is also a thoughtful gift option for readers who enjoy long-form shonen manga and imaginative adventure stories.
